SCOTTSDALE — The Arizona Concours d’Elegance kicked off the annual Arizona Car Week of auctions and events with a brilliant showing of collector vehicles on Sunday, January 18, on the lawns of the Scottsdale Civic Center.

More than 100 collector cars and historic motorcycles were on display and professionally judged for awards in 13 car classes and one motorcycle class, as well as receiving special prizes and awards.

The Best of Show winners, one for a pre-World War II vehicle and one for post-WWII, were chosen by the judges from the 14 class winners. They are:

A 1955 Jaguar D-Type in the brilliant red paint scheme that Carroll Shelby raced it in the ‘50s, owned by Jeremy McChesney of Laguna Beach, California.

While much of the nation shivered under a wintry cold snap, the weather in Scottsdale was ideal for the Arizona Concours automotive garden party and celebration of motoring past and present.

One of the most-coveted special awards was presented by the Arizona Concours’ longtime beneficiary, Make-A-Wish® Arizona, the founding chapter of the national organization that grants wishes for children facing life-threatening medical conditions.

A group of Wish Kids were present at the Concours to pick out their favorite car, with the award going to a perky 1964 Amphicar 770, a combination automobile and watercraft owned by Jared Guynes and Jessica Sapp of Royse City, Texas.
