Congratulations to the Arizona Concours d’Elegance
It is our pleasure to announce that the Arizona Concours d’Elegance has been unanimously voted by the International Chief Judge Advisory Group (ICJAG) Board of Directors to be elevated to the status of an "ICJAG Plus" show. This is the highest acknowledgement category that ICJAG can award to any Concours in the world. The fact that the Concours’ Chief Judge is an ICJAG panel member and that the Concours uses the ICJAG recommended forms and guidelines along with the three-point Elegance/Presence and Provenance factor points qualify the Concours. The superior organization of the show is also a contributing factor that led to the decision to elevate the status of the show. The Arizona Concours, and especially the judging process used, is considered by ICJAG as one of the best in North America.
The ICJAG Board of Directors
The Arizona Concours has been designed to represent the highest standard of automotive exhibition events, and to provide participants and guests with the opportunity to see wonderful and unique examples of automotive history.
To accomplish our goal, we adopted the International Chief Judge Advisory Group (ICJAG) judging format in 2014. As the Arizona Concours has grown into a world class event, we continue to use this format under the direction of John Carlson our Chief Judge and a founding member of ICJAG.
The International Chief Judge Advisory Group (ICJAG) was formed to promote proper preservation and correct restoration for the benefit of future generations. ICJAG judging assists this objective through a focus on originality and authenticity while recognizing that cars are meant to be driven.
Judging will include consideration of the following categories: Exterior—Interior--Engine Compartment--Chassis-- Operations— and all vehicles will be started.
The maximum score of 100 points will reflect a perfect car. Deductions are made from the starting score of 100 to determine the objective score for each car reflecting the deviation from its original state as it rolled off the production line or coach building platform. There are no deductions for minor evidence of use, as vehicles are meant to be driven. Elegance / Presence and Provenance / Historical Significance will all have some impact on the judging results. The judging team will have the option to add up to 3 additional points to a vehicle’s final score for these items.
The Arizona Concours Selection Committee reserve the right to accept or reject any entry that does not meet the standards of the Concours or the class criteria for each year. Each class will have a limited number of entries.
Vehicles that have been rebodied or significantly enhanced more than 10 years after their original manufacture will not be accepted.
The organizers reserve the right to change an entry classification or add/combine classes depending on the number of entries and type. All judged classes will be scored by our judges, with the exception of selecting Special Awards.
All classes for display and judging are determined by the Arizona Concours Selection Committee. They are subject to combination, addition or elimination of classes as deemed best by the Arizona Concours. The decisions of the judges will be final. Judging sheets and final score tallies will not be available to the participant. To promote authenticity and correctness and to reduce point deductions, it is highly suggested that vehicles go through the Marque judging process prior to being placed on the Concours field or engage Marque experts to ensure the vehicle restoration and presentation is correct.
The Concours will take place Rain or Shine. Event details are subject to change without prior notice.
Transporter and trailer parking will be available, and detailed information will be provided by the Selection Committee approximately 30-days prior to the event. Please make your parking arrangements ahead of time.
Judging begins at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. You or a handler must be present at the time of judging to start and operate the vehicle. Judges will not open vehicle doors or engine compartments.
All cars must be left on the show field until the presentation of the awards is complete, which is scheduled for approximately 4:00 p.m. on show day. City of Scottsdale officials prohibit removal of any car until the gates reopen after the show. Please do not plan to leave the show field early.
Each entry to the Concours entitles the registrant to the following: one vehicle entry, one driver and one passenger. Arrangements for mechanics or handlers should be made in advance. Owners of accepted automobiles will receive:
For the safety of all entrants and spectators, all cars are suggested to have an operational 2lb fire extinguisher on hand and utilize at least one (1) wheel chock as you may be parked on a slight incline.
Vehicles in the show may not display for-sale signs, commercial signs, displays, illustrations or advertisements of any kind. Personal items may be kept in the trunk. Trunks and glove compartments will not be judged. Two lawn chairs will be provided for each car.
The Concours will provide an Exhibitor’s Placard for each vehicle with the owner’s information and vehicle description. Please feel free to take your Placard after the show. Personal vehicle display boards are not permitted unless cleared in advance by the Organizers.
Tool kits, manuals and brochures may be displayed in the vehicle interior or trunk, but we discourage placing them around the vehicle where someone could trip over the them.
